My decision to pursue social work is rooted in my personal experiences and my commitment to equity. During my adolescence, I worked with a social worker while navigating family issues, which shaped my understanding of the profession’s impact. I learned that meaningful support is grounded in consistency, ethical practice, and a strengths-based approach. Growing up in diverse communities in Chicago further reinforced my belief that social work must address systemic inequities while honoring the dignity and resilience of individuals and families.
